Suboxone (Buprenorphine plus Naloxone) vs Subutex (Buprenorphine only)

Many of my patients complain about generic Subutex not giving them the effects as Suboxone. It has to be noted that once the medication becomes generic, many companies can produce it. This means that you might get a different pill each time you get SUBUTEX filled. Many of the these generic medications don’t have as much active ingredient as the brand name.
Although cheaper, you don’t know what you are getting… anyhow what you pay for the brand name is cheaper than what you pay for the addiction.

Also note, Subutex is indicated only for opiate detox, while Suboxone is indicated for both opiate detox and maintenance.  Long=term use of Suboxone has proved to help prevent relapse into pain killer drug addiction.

  • Yeah, but not everyone likes pot. I dont bucaese it makes me paranoid, anxious and anti social. kinda hard to enjoy a high that makes you feel like crap. I got hooked on the pills bucaesed i enjoyed the high, but I was one of the lucky ones to get off and have been opiate free for 3 years. Everyone one’s going to have their own preference when it comes to drugs and not everyone is going to like pot. just like not everyone likes alcohol, or whatever. It’s all about personal preference
